History

Scierie Tech inc., located in Lac-Drolet’s industrial park, was created in 1994 after research into new project opportunities by the three initial shareholders whose diverse and complementary knowledge favoured development of the enterprise. The company specializes in the sawing, drying and grading of white pine.

It also has the expertise and technology necessary for sawing species of hardwood and aspen.  Its annual sawing capacity is 20 million BF, operating on two work shifts.

In 1999, after five years of operation, Scierie Tech inc. had doubled its annual turnover with its team of 55 employees. Mr. Paradis and Ms. Campagna took full charge of the enterprise and bought the actions of the third shareholder.

In 2000, they invested 2.5 million dollars to acquire four state-of-the-art hybrid dryers and construct administration offices.

In 2002, within the framework of their strategic development plan, the owners put in place a department for research and development, focusing on improved resource use by better recycling and emphasizing used wood. During this period, the enterprise experienced exceptional growth and had to face numerous challenges in the milling industry, whether on the level of suppliers, markets and work force or production technology.

In the fall of 2006, Scierie Tech inc. invested $700,000 to construct a second warehouse as well as another new building with an automated grading line, all with the goal to increase productivity and to improve working conditions. The company now achieves faster grading in order to better serve its customers and grade the more numerous dimensions required by a market in perpetual change.

In 2007, to modernize outmoded equipment, to optimize and improve the lumber, to augment sawmill productivity and to diminish costs, the enterprise invested another $750,00 to build a new warehouse and purchase a new 3D carriage.
